Republika, a private college dormitory with locations across Europe and Asia, sought to redesign their outdated website. High bounce rates and poor responsiveness were major issues. My role was to create a modern, comfortable, and luxurious digital experience that reflects Republika’s brand values.
The outdated design didn’t reflect Republika’s modern facilities or brand. A clear call to action was missing, limiting lead generation. The primary goal was to encourage potential students or their parents to call or fill out a form to book a tour.
Research showed nearly 80% of students who took a tour of the facilities, chose to book for the full academic year. Since parents play a key role, phone calls were preferred over online forms, as they felt more comfortable speaking directly. Highlighting dining, social spaces, and study areas was also important to address concerns from both students and parents.
We aimed to capture the youthful, dynamic spirit of students embarking on their first independent experience. Bright imagery and professionally edited videos replaced the text-heavy approach of the old site.
Colors were selected to evoke modernity, complemented by crisp, professional photography that reinforces this tone. Typography prioritized legibility and a contemporary feel, with accessibility considerations integrated throughout.
Two weeks after launch, bounce rates had reduced by over 50%. This was a big win and after working with content writers in order to improve SEO and Google rankings, conversions from the website (a conversion being a user contacting Republika by phone, contact form, or email via the website) increased by 60% within six months.
